Dr Felicidade Niquice is a medical doctor, specialist in Occupational and Environmental Health, and a PhD candidate in Occupational Health and Safety at the University of Porto. Her professional and academic interests include occupational health and safety, climate change and health, environmental health, and public health research. Her work focuses on addressing emerging health challenges associated with climate change and occupational health, and on strengthening resilient, sustainable health systems in Mozambique and across Sub-Saharan Africa.
She has participated in scientific, institutional, and multidisciplinary initiatives involving research coordination, health promotion, scientific dissemination, and the organisation of academic and professional events. Her experience also includes collaboration in projects aimed at integrating public health, environmental sustainability, and occupational risk management into evidence-based policies and interventions in her country.
Dr Niquice is particularly interested in the impact of climate change on vulnerable working populations, the prevention of occupational and environmental risks, and the promotion of community-centred approaches to health resilience. In 2023, she was awarded the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Sub-Saharan Africa Young Talents Award in recognition of her contribution to scientific research and public health initiatives in Mozambique and the region.
