Dr. Ayubo Kampango is a senior researcher at the National Institute of Health (INS) in Mozambique, with extensive experience collaborating with public and private institutions on vector-borne disease elimination across diverse endemic settings in Africa. He holds a BSc in Biological Sciences from Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (Mozambique), an MSc in Biomedical Sciences from the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (Portugal), and a PhD in Entomology from the University of Pretoria (South Africa).
His expertise spans the ecology of vector-borne diseases and the evaluation of vector control products, interventions, and surveillance programmes in the context of global change. At INS, he leads the Vector Study Unit, the national reference centre for vector-borne diseases, while also serving in advisory roles within technical vector control groups in Mozambique and internationally.
Dr. Kampango is an active member of the Entomological Society of Southern Africa (ESSA) and currently serves on the organising committee of the International Conference of Entomology 2028, to be held in Cape Town, South Africa. He is the senior author of numerous scientific publications in indexed journals, contributing significantly to advancing knowledge and practice in vector-borne disease control.
