Professor Collins Iwuji is Professor of Climate, Environment and Health at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. Prior to this, he was Professor of Global Health and HIV Medicine at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, University of Sussex, and Honorary Consultant Physician at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. He is Faculty in Population Science at the Africa Health Research Institute, where he leads the Climate and Health Research Programme and the Health and Demographic Surveillance System. He also leads the Climate and Health Research Programme of the African Population Cohorts Consortium.
Professor Iwuji’s research is interdisciplinary, spanning population science, clinical medicine, and climate change and health. His work focuses on evaluating interventions to strengthen health system resilience to extreme weather events, climate change and HIV, and the mental health impacts of climate change.
He is a member of the Wellcome Trust Population and Public Health Advisory Group, the WHO Technical Advisory Group on Embedding Ethics in Health and Climate Change, and the Steering Committee of the African Population Cohorts Consortium.
